The Standard

Why we build differently.

The web is ugly because it optimized for engagement, not beauty. Every pixel fights for your attention. Every scroll triggers an algorithm. Every click feeds a database designed to sell you something.

We reject this. Standard Garden is a protocol, not a product. Your notes are yours. The design is minimal because the content is sacred.

"Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Sustainable

Most platforms are built to scale infinitely. We are built to last indefinitely.

Your garden lives on Cloudflare's edge — distributed across 300+ cities, powered by renewable energy, cached aggressively. Your backup lives on your NAS — a folder you control, synced via Obsidian or email.

If Standard Garden disappears tomorrow, you still have your notes. If the internet disappears tomorrow, you still have your notes. This is sustainability.

Compost

We delete your data. Not because we're careless, but because gardens need composting.

Free tier notes expire after 90 days. Not to punish you, but to keep the garden alive. Dead notes rot. They take up space. They slow down the network. Composting is natural.

Want to keep your notes forever? Upgrade to Estate ($4/month). Your notes become permanent. Your garden becomes a legacy.

Estate

We charge $4 because free products make you the product. We don't want your data. We don't want your attention. We want you to own your garden.

$4/month covers:

This is not a subscription to a service. This is rent for digital land. You plant. We maintain the soil.

Headless

There is no dashboard. There is no admin panel. There is no "content management system."

You write in Obsidian. You email to your-garden@standard.garden. You use the web editor if you must. The platform is invisible.

This is intentional. Dashboards create busywork. They make you manage instead of create. Standard Garden is a publishing protocol, not a productivity app.

Standard

This is not for everyone. This is for mechanics, not influencers. For gardeners, not farmers. For people who care about craft, not clout.

If you read this and nod, welcome. If you read this and leave, good. The Standard filters intentionally.
